Destination Sonoma Wine Country

The Sonoma Wine Country is located just north of the Golden Gate Bridge approximately 60 miles. Centered among Appalachian growing regions where to the west Sonoma County is bordered by the Pacific Coast. The Coastal Mountains and the Russian River Valley is found to be the cooler areas for growing. The Dry Creek Valley and the Alexander Valley tend to heat up the north end of the county where the Sonoma Valley to the east also known as the Valley of the Moon is surrounded by small mountain ranges. All areas of the growing regions produce different varietals allowing the vast area to create and produce some of the finest wines in the world.

Destination Napa Valley

Travelling north from San Francisco is the celebrated Napa Valley Wine Country.  Diverse in wine-growing regions but vast in choices for the memorable experience.  Napa Valley hosts multiple areas for tourists to visit and stay.  Calistoga on the east end of the valley allows travel from Hwy. 29 and Silverado Trail.  Centrally located is the quaint town of St. Helena where tourists congregate in addition to Yountville where dining is truly highlighted.  With over 430 wineries located from one end of the valley to the other tourists will never run out of a winery to visit.

Say Hello to the most fabulous city in the World –San Francisco.  San Francisco is continually rated as the number one city in the world to visit over and over.  The sights and sounds of San Francisco await the visitors worldwide.  Visitors to the city will find travelling around the city easy and efficient.  A favorite for visitors are cable cars and ferry service which allows tourists to move around the bay with ease.  BART Bay Area Rapid Transit is available from San Francisco Airport so that once you arrive and stay on or around Pier 39 a well-known tourist destination or on Union Square for the shop-a-holic you can easily navigate the city with ease. Sonoma County Airport (STS) Local regional airport
San Francisco International Airport (SFO) 95 Miles south of Sonoma County

Proceed North on Hwy 101 and take the San Bruno exit and head west on Hwy 280 and merge north on 280 North to the Golden Gate Bridge. Travel about 65 miles north of the Golden Gate Bridge to Sonoma County on Hwy 101 to the wine regions.

Napa County Airport ~ 2030 Airport Rd, Napa, CA 94558

“The Skyport to Wine Country” is a very small local landing strip that services charter flights and private aircraft only. Fly directly to Napa on your own chartered plane or, if you’re a licensed pilot, fly yourself directly to the heart of the valley.

Oakland International Airport (OAK) 105 Miles southeast of Sonoma County

Proceed North on Hwy 580 to Berkeley and exit on Hwy 280 to the Richmond Bridge. Cross the Richmond Bridge to San Rafael. Proceed north on Hwy 101 approximately 35 miles to Sonoma County and the surrounding wine regions.

Sacramento International Airport (SAC) 80 Miles east of Sonoma County

Proceed south on Highway 5 and continue on Highway 80 to Vallejo. Merge right onto Highway 37 west to Sonoma County. Proceed on Hwy. 37 to Lakeville Highway and turn right and follow Lakeville Highway to Hwy 101 and proceed north to the wine regions.

Rail Access – Amtrak:
Amtrak service is available via Amtrak bus connection from Santa Rosa (adjacent to the Marriott and Hyatt in Railroad Square) to Martinez for connections to all Amtrak destinations. No Amtrak agent is available for departure/returns. For information to purchase tickets call (800)USA-RAIL or log onto www.amtrak.com. Taste of the Wine County offers FIT packages, request packages with rail connections transfers by logging onto www.tasteofthewinecountry.com and click on FIT package.

Airport Shuttle:

San Francisco International Airport and Oakland International Airport is serviced by Airport Express with daily service. For information on their schedules and reservation log onto www.AirportExpressInc.com.

Rental car service is available at Sonoma County Airport by the following rental cars. The car rental agencies listed are located in the terminal.
